Longtek Ltd, Beijing, China and Algoryx Simulation AB, Umeå, Sweden, have extended their licensing agreement which provides Longtek with Algoryx’s high fidelity realtime physics simulation engine AGX Dynamics. Longtek develops the MakeReal3D virtual reality platform and applications for the booming Chinese virtual reality market, in particular the engineering market where there is strong demand for high quality physics simulations.
Beijing, China and Umeå, Sweden, October 13, 2016.
Bloomberg has recently estimated that the virtual reality (VR) market in China will be worth at least $8.5b. Already in the first quarter of 2016, $1.1 billion was invested in the chinese VR industry, according to California-based Digi-Capital and this amounts to almost 10% of the total venture capital investment in China according to London consultancy Preqin Ltd. Longtek addresses the professional segments of this market, in particular industrial engineering and simulators for virtual prototyping, design, optimization, testing and training.
“We have selected AGX Dynamics because it is the leading physics engine for the engineering industry with a combination of performance and fidelity that really stands out. It fulfils the requirements of our demanding customers and often exceeds their expectations on realism, fidelity and stability. It has been easy and effective to integrate AGX Dynamics in our own product, MakeReal3D VSP, and our customers can now enjoy fully interactive physics simulations in virtual environments”, says Tao Song, Technical Director at Longtek.

“It is truly satisfying to see that VR finally has come to the stage, where realistic graphics and high fidelity real-time physics meet to enable a whole new era of immersive experiences. Longtek has managed to combine two strong forces into a great product. Back in 2002 when I was working at Umeå University with the very first implementations of immersive real-time physics interaction, we understood that it will become a big thing, but the market and the hardware was not ready. Now we’re getting there!, says Anders Backman, CTO and co-founder of Algoryx.”
